August 11-18, 2012

Sea of Cortez – Midriff Islands
With clear, deep blue waters, abundant sea life, white sand beaches and inspiring vistas, the Sea of Cortez – known as the Gulf of California – is a breathtaking destination for amazing fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, boating, and exploring diverse marine creatures. Legendary diver Jacques Cousteau described the Sea of Cortez as the “world’s aquarium” and the “Galapagos of North America.” Dive on untouched walls and reefs abounding in marine life. Encounter great and small whale species, whale sharks, manta and jumping mobula rays, and sea lion colonies. Hike and explore remote uninhabited islets. Dine under the stars in a calm anchorage, socialize with your shipmates and make new friends. Then melt into a luxurious bunk in your own finely appointed cabin with private bathrooms and hot showers. All in a day aboard Rocio, combined with personalized service to enhance your live aboard safety and fun. Dive into your dreams and see what sea of cortez diving is all abou

The boat we are booked on is: http://www.rociodelmarliveaboard.com/

We’ll be doing the Sea of Cortez itinerary and average water temps in August are around 88F (31C), so it will be very comfortable. Logistics are to fly to Phoenix, AZ, USA and then they drive us to their boat just over the border in Mexico to depart. They return us to Phoenix at the end of the week. Shuttle will pick us up in Phoenix around 10am on Sat August 11. I will be flying in on Friday and getting a hotel for night. I would suggest others do that also. They will give me a list of hotels the shuttle picks up from.

Prices:
. The price per passenger is $2295.00 it includes food, snacks, all drinks and diving. Not included in the price: Nitrox $100.00 per person, national park fee $25.00 per person, transportation to and from the boat $100.00 per person round trip and gratuity a 10-15% is suggested per person.

Only Open water certification is necessary unless you will be using Nitrox, you will need your Nitrox certification card with you if you are. I am also assuming you need your passport since we will be departing from Mexico. Nitrox is an option not a requirement.
